A Look Inside OneDrop’s New NYC Office

by AAshir

Diabetes management platform OneDrop recently hired interior design firm M Monroe Design to design their new office in New York City

“The raw space came with a STUNNING skylight. So, naturally M Monroe Design based the entire space around it. Knowing full well that she couldn’t compete with it; She tried anyway and designed a 2 ton plexiglass table. The table was built in 4 parts by PlexiCraft, and craned in/ assembled by a team of 8. Why yes, you are correct, Xanax was the main course for breakfast that day. I have videos, it was nuts. I’ll try to add those here. Anyway, I could go on and on about the plexi table, my “precious baby”, but I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

M Monroe Design went full Frank Lloyd Wright on this one. Designing as many custom things as she could. Full control of the design and construction allowed for a fantastic outcome. This is definitely a favorite project, perfectly timed for M Monroe Design’s 15 year anniversary (April 2022)!!

Art was a huge focus throughout. From the curation by M Monroe to exposing the old stair stringers, and building out around it as art. The contractors definitely think I’m nuts. If you look closely you’ll see old cursive writing (if you’re too young to read it, I’ll tell you what it says)— “ George’s nail” (with an arrow to said nail), and “George owes Jerry a quarter”. I wonder if Jerry ever saw that quarter?
In the front of the space there was a wall cut out where there used to be a door connecting to the adjacent space. We turned that into a custom nook for the yellow lacquered Karim Rashid sculpture. The gray counterpart to this sculpture is featured in OneDrop’s Austin TX office.

The kitchen is another highlight that M Monroe obsessed over. It’s ADA compliant, but feels glamorous and even a tad residential. The appliance cabinet has staggered pulls to allow for the retractable doors to function.. revealing the coffee machine and toaster oven….didn’t want them trying to steal any attention when not in use.”
