Project located in the northwest of Mexico, in Valle de Guadalupe the wine route, with an important growth and wine development
According to a master plan established in 2013, before beginning with the intervention of the property, the first stage was to develop the brewery named Media Perra, built in 2014. As a second stage, we considered designing and building the new home of our client “Casa Media Perra”
For the development of the project we had an area of land with very particular natural elements, a rugged topography with very pronounced changes in level. A large-scale rock as a participant in an analysis of possibilities around it, and to be versatile with our proposal.
Adaptation and connection with the context were concepts that led us to decide that the rock had a sense of belonging to the place and the new home had to relate and interact with it.
Connect inhabit-nature by creating a bridge (through the Rock) and generating a dialogue between the two, that is how our stairs from the main access to the home and a part of our foundations were settled on the rock.
We raised the floor of the house by means of wooden and steel columns, with the firm idea of leaving a more permeable floor that would not have a great impact on the nature of the land and use the lower floor as an outdoor amphitheater for meetings and events relatives.
We wanted to achieve with this a sequence and vertical rhythm that would be a reinterpretation of the outer skin of its predecessor and now part of its context the “Media Perra” brewery
The house has only 75m2, optimal space for our client’s needs: a master bedroom, full bathroom, walk in closet, living room, dining room, kitchen, utility room and a mezzanine for visiting visitors. The main views from the interior to the exterior landscape of the house are concentrated in the areas of the master bedroom, living room and mezzanine
The orientation of the house, the management of natural light and noble materials such as the apparent wood, the straw stacked as thermal insulation within the walls, the application of a soil paint from the same land are all participants in the warmth of the home and a point of convergence between inhabiting – nature.
