Neo House is a project developed on three levels with 830 m2 of construction, in a residential condominium in the west of the city, in Zapopan, Jalisco; with strict regulations in its construction manual, in order to maintain a dominant aesthetic image, which actually means more about anachronism than of a search for collective beauty.
The client had a clear and strong aesthetic idea of his project. A completely orthogonal house, with a clear and reductionist language, basically a container. And so the idea was made for several months, achieving to minimize the volumetry of the house. Which is resolved with the intersection of three orthogonal bodies perpendicular to each other, in the manner of a jenga, which are interspersed to complete the program in a vertical development, using the máximum height allowed by the condominium.
The first body, semi-buried, takes advantage of the topography of the land, solving the requirement of the client to have a public program independent of the rest of the house. An alternative access to the house is contemplated, which leads to the studio, a small meeting room and a playroom then a home office is achieved independent of the residential program.
The entrance of the second body is by small stairs that leads to the ground floor of the house (half above street level). This contains the social program of the project, conceived as a large glass box that is articulated by a compositional and perpendicular visual axis that distributes to the social program: entrance – hall – living room – terrace.
The project has a central corridor to which all the spaces observe, they spaces access and articulate the architectural program: A central patio and the stairs area.
The patio has a large ceiba that is visible from any point of the residence, allowing excellent lighting and natural ventilation throughout the house. The staircase in apparent concrete becomes by itself in a decorative and protagonist element. Besides, the use of a red crystal re-qualifies the space through the light, giving it new perspectives during the course of the day. Besides to the use of color in this space, the house does not have additional decorative elements to the strictly constructive by request of the client.
The third body in ascending order contains the private program, designed as a large box with more discreet openings and directed to interesting visual points. In plant it is resolved as a corrido that surrounds the central core and projects the visuals to the exterior of the house. Composed of three secondary bedrooms and the main one at the opposite extreme, in addition to a family room that becomes the ideal complement for the personal activities of the children.
